Dr. Jess Steen discovered her passion for emergency medicine and neurology during veterinary school. Although she initially planned to pursue a career as equine veterinarian—with previous experience in the equine world—her clinical rotations revealed a deep interest in small animal medicine. She was drawn to the fast-paced nature of the emergency room and the complexity of its diverse caseload. Dr. Steen is especially passionate about neurology, finding both an emotional connection and an intellectual challenge in solving neurological cases. She is excited to join the AVECCC team, where she aims to hone her clinical skills, build confidence in managing critical cases, and provide high- quality, compassionate care to her patients.
