DVM

Dr. Emily MacCrae

Dr. Emily MacCrae is a recent transplant to Arizona from the East Coast and is thrilled to be part of the AVECCC team. Originally from Ontario, Canada, she has lived throughout the United States for much of her life. Dr. MacCrae earned her DVM from Cornell University in 2021 and has particular interests in cytology/pathology, endocrine disease, and education.

Before becoming a veterinarian, she spent nearly a decade working in emergency and critical care, which fostered a strong belief in the value of day-to-day staff learning. She is a passionate advocate for on-the-floor discussions of technical skills, challenging cases, and disease processes, complementing formal continuing education programs.

Her professional experience spans a wide range of clinical environments, from small rural general practices and wildlife rehabilitation centers to large, multi-specialty intensive care units. Outside of work, Dr. MacCrae enjoys traveling, attending live music events, and hiking with her husband and their chihuahua mix, Abe.
