Dr. Emily Akins grew up in Orangevale, California where she has always had a love for animals. In college, she explored a few different career paths before stumbling into the world of veterinary medicine. She worked in general practice as a technician and volunteered at a cat-only shelter all through college and was fortunate enough to work in the University of Flordia's ICU during vet school. Through these experiences, she discovered her love of critical care and crusty ancient animals. Her areas of interest include end of life and hospice care, spectrum of care, and behavior.
